Nashville, Tenn.
-- The deadline to apply for the newest American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (ABVP) certification, exotic companion mammal practice, is quickly approaching.
The certification category was granted provisional status in 2008, and the deadline to apply for the 2009 examination is Jan. 15.
The board provides certifications in nine species categories, and the exotic companion mammal category includes ferrets, rabbits, mice, rats and other small pet mammals.
A concurrent residency is available for veterinarians who want to pursue both avian and exotic companion mammal certifications but can't take both tests at the same time.
For more information about the certification procedure, visit www.abvp.com or call the ABV office at 800-697-3583.
