Here's a before-and-after example of the benefits of using a low-stress handling technique to administer ophthalmic medication to a kitten from Emily Levine, DVM, MRCVS, DACVB, and the behavior team at Animal Emergency & Referral Associates in Fairfield, New Jersey. Ideally, a kitten wouldn't be treated near a whining dog, but the dog sounds were not a source of stress for this kitten because it had been well socialized with and was accustomed to dogs.
