The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has appointed a recent Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine grad as a veterinary medical officer.

·The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has appointeda recent Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine grad as a veterinarymedical officer.

Dr. Kristy Murray, a 1998 graduate, will serve in the Centers for Divisionof Global Migration and Quarantine in Atlanta.

She will study emerging infectious diseases in animals and humans andcoordinate with quarantine stations throughout the U.S. Murray will alsowork to prevent infectious diseases from entering the nation's borders andwill create methods for screening animals and humans at each quarantinestation.

·Hal Stolz, DVM, 66, in Ellijay, Ga., broke the 65-69 age grouprecord in Georgia in the 200-meter breaststroke with a time of 3:26.16,surpassing the old mark, set by his brother, Irwin, by more than 30 seconds.Stolz also participated in four gold-medal winning relay teams at the statemasters' championships.
