We use a sugar solution to centrifuge fecal samples; sometimes the solution spills, making quite a mess.
We use a sugar solution to centrifuge fecal samples; sometimes the solution spills, making quite a mess. But we've found that a denture cleanser, Efferdent (Johnson & Johnson), is the perfect tool for cleaning a messy centrifuge. Toss two Efferdent tablets in a 2.5-gal bucket and fill it halfway with water. Use a sponge or whatever you like for scrubbing. If a lot of buildup exists, allow for some soak time. I also pour the mixture into appropriately labeled spray bottles and keep it for later use, as it continues to work for weeks after activation. It's an excellent, long-lasting cleaner for only $2.
