We will review the basic radiographic pulmonary patterns seen in dogs and cats. Hyperadrenocorticism (HAC) or Cushing's syndrome is a common endocrine disease in dogs. This syndrome includes ACTH dependent (pituitary dependent hyperadrenocorticism), ACTH independent (adrenal dependent), iatrogenic Cushing's syndrome, and atypical sex hormone. Review these signs of hyperadrenocorticism, as well as changes seen in a minimum data base that may lead the practitioner to suspect hyperadrenocorticism.

Chronic ear infections can be frustrating for pet owners and veterinarians. Acute management of secondary infections involves appropriate selection of antimicrobial topicals based on cytology. Control of chronic, relapsing disease requires investigation and treatment of the primary causes of otitis externa, perpetuating factors, and predisposing issues that can lead to relapse. The PSPP (primary, secondary, perpetuating, and predisposing) classification system gives an organized approach to the treatment and prevention of otitis externa. Selection of appropriate anti-inflammatory medications and ear flushes for the individual patient is crucial for successful outcome.
