Knoxville, Tenn. - Former University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine Dean Dr. Joseph A. DiPietro was named the 24th president at the University of Tennessee.
KNOXVILLE, TENN. — Former University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine Dean Dr. Joseph A. DiPietro was named the 24th president at the University of Tennessee (UT).
DiPietro has been serving as chancellor of the UT Institute of Agriculture since 2006. He was selected for the position from a pool of 71 applicants in a search that lasted more than a year.
A 1976 graduate of the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine, DiPietro also began his career there as a veterinary professor. He became dean of Florida's veterinary college in 1997, where he served for nearly a decade.
The date has not been set for DiPiero to take office.
