Supreme Petfoods announced it will be sponsoring a free webinar entitled ‘Food For Life; age-appropriate feeding for guinea pigs’ that will occur on Tuesday, September 26th at 4pm BST.1 This webinar will help address the many intricacies of guinea pig nutrition, such as the importance of a fiber rich diet and high vitamin A needs,2 with a primary focus on how their dietary requirements change from birth to adulthood.

“Lifestage diets have been a firm fixture in canine and feline nutrition for many years, but nutrition tailored to age is a more recent development in small pets,” said Claire Hamblion, marketing director at Supreme Petfoods.1

The webinar will feature Molly Varga, a RCVS recognized specialist in zoo and wildlife medicine, head of the exotic pets service at the Rutland House Referral Center, and veterinary advisor to Supreme Petfoods, along with Craig Tessyman, who works with Varga as exotics veterinary nurse team leader at Rutland House Veterinary Referrals. The webinar aims to inform veterinarians, veterinary technicians, small pet parent owners, and specialist pet retailers that want to grow their small pet knowledge.

“With decades of experience, we are delighted that Molly will be teaming up with Craig to share her extensive knowledge on the subject. The pet guinea pig population doubled during the pandemic, and the last 2 years have seen a further 25 percent increase. The importance of appropriate nutrition has never been greater,” added Hamblion.

Varga has worked in small animal and exotic medicine in the UK and Canada and lectures on exotic pet medicine and surgery. She has a Certificate and a Diploma in Zoological Medicine and has contributed to various BSAVA manuals on guinea pigs and other exotic species, plus has revised and updated the Textbook of Rabbit Medicine.1
