Frozen pet treats recalled for Salmonella

Article

Recall only affects product made June 14, 2012.

Routine testing by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture discovered the presence of Salmonella in product sampled from a retail location, prompting the voluntary recall of 2-lb tubes of Bravo! Chicken Blend frozen raw diet tubes. The recalled product was made June 14, 2012, and distributed nationwide.

The recalled 2-lb tubes of Bravo! Raw Food Diet Chicken Blend for Dogs and Cats have product code 21-102 and batch identification code 6 14 12 printed on the white hang tag attached to the bottom of the plastic film tube. According to a U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) release, consumers should return unopened frozen tubes of food to the store where purchased for a full refund. If tubes have been opened, the plastic batch ID tag should be removed, washed and returned to the store where purchased for a full refund. Unused product should be disposed of in a securely covered trash receptacle. The FDA recommends everyone follow appropriate pet food handling guidelines.
