The high-energy continuing education (CE) program covered a variety of topics with attendee participation.
A high-energy, gamified continuing education (CE) program, dvm360® UNLEASHED!, debuted today at the Fetch dvm360® Conference in Kansas City, Missouri. This learning opportunity, in a game show format—part 1 of 2—served as the morning’s keynote presentation.
“Gamified learning actively engages participants to interact, which is known to increase memory recall and comprehension,” said Adam Christman, DVM, MBA, chief veterinary officer for dvm360®, in an interview.
Wearing sequined blazers, Christman and co-host Matt Bubala, host of The Matt Bubala Show on WGN Radio, moved throughout the ballroom as they brought their microphones to attendees. On stage, veterinarians from VetScoop— Natalie L. Marks, DVM, CVJ; Lisa Radosta, DVM, DACVB; Evan Antin, DVM; and Kwane Stewart, DVM—were positioned as game show contestants as they provided clinical information that elaborated on the trivia answers from attendees.
Topics, between both sessions, include dermatology, puppy/kitten, pot-paw-ri, nutrition, behavior, pain management, feline medicine, and practice management.
This morning’s attendees—hailing from Missouri, Michigan, Kansas, Iowa, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and beyond—participated by answering questions and earning prizes with their table teammates. The session frequently elicited cheers and laughs that were interspersed with rapid-fire questions presented in a Jeopardy-style format.
Gameplay was occasionally stopped to award prizes and amp up the fun. At one point, the crowd was asked: “What is the No. 1 dog breed in the United States?” Attendees shouted out responses until the right answer was provided: Cavalier King Charles spaniel. At another point, Christman asked those familiar with Tik Tok to join him in a quick dance to a song by Lizzo that has been made popular by the social media platform.
With support from Hill’s Pet Nutrition, Trupanion, and Zoetis, the 2-part dvm360® UNLEASHED! program provides attendees with up to 2 hours of CE credit in jurisdictions that recognize Registry of Approved Continuing Education approval from the American Association of Veterinary State Boards. Attendees can earn 1 CE credit for each of the 2 program sessions.
The new program will also be offered on Sunday, during lunch, at the conference.
