"The successful breeding of Himalayan black bears is a testament to our unwavering commitment to wildlife conservation,” expressed Dr Kadek Kesuma Atmaja, the dedicated Animal Curator at The Amazing Taman Safari Bali, in the release. “It reflects the tireless efforts of our devoted animal caretakers, skilled veterinarians, and our entire team."1
Himalayan black bears are listed as vulnerable by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.2 Native to the mountainous terrain of South Asia, some threats to these bears include habitat loss and poaching. According to the zoo, “The successful breeding at The Amazing Taman Safari Bali serves as a beacon of hope for the preservation of this remarkable species.”1
