Waltham, Mass. - 10/23/07 - A local veterinary hospital is implementing a $4.5-million project that will double its staff, add more than half a dozen new specialties and improve is focus on patient care.

In their transition from a daytime surgical practice to a round-the-clock hospital, Vetcision will also be moving to a 19,000-square-foot facility this spring, equipped to hold their 20 current team members and expected addition of up to 30 more doctors, managers and paraprofessionals.

The new facility will help to further integrate cutting-edge technology that aids both the treatment and diagnostics of small animal patients and care of customers. With the implementation of seven new specialties--internal medicine, cardiology, critical care, emergency, radiology, physical therapy and an internship program--Vetcision will evolve from a strictly surgical practice to an inclusive specialty practice, without sacrificing customer service.

"We are elevating the industry standard for veterinary care by making the quality of care for our patients and their families a priority while treating them in a world-class facility," says Dr. Brian Huss , hospital CEO and chief of staff who helped design the facility with TMP Consulting Engineers . "We have implemented key management programs that ensures that all our patients and their families experience the highest level of comfort and care."

The hospital also plans to improve its availability to referring doctors and their patients, while also further enhancing a communication system that allows referring doctors to check on their patients from the time they enter the hospital through to their discharge, Huss says.
