HSUS conference focuses on animals in disaster

Sacramento, Calif. - 319/08 - The 2008 National Conference on Animals in Disaster, sponsored by the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), will be held in Sacramento, Calif. June 2-6.

Sacramento, Calif. - 3/19/08 - The 2008 National Conference on Animals in Disaster, sponsored by the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), will be held in Sacramento, Calif. June 2-6.

The conference aims to facilitate discussion on topics including:

  • Improving evacuation, rescue and shelter policies
  • Establishing contacts with federal, state and emergency management associations
  • Developing field rescue operations
  • General veterinary medical issues
  • International, federal, state and local planning and response methods

Held every two years, the 2006 conference featured Department of Homeland Security officials and was attended by emergency management and animal experts nationwide.
