The benefits of tailoring anesthesia for each and every patient
Veterinary technician content is sponsored by Elanco for the month of October.
In an interview with dvm360 at the Fetch Coastal conference in Atlantic City, New Jersey, Mark Harris Jr, LVT, BS, explained how creating a unique anesthesia protocol for each and every patient benefits the patient and practice. Each patient may have different medical needs for anesthesia and making a personalized protocol leads to better outcomes.
The following is a partial transcript of the video.
Mark Harris, Jr, LVT, BS: Making an individualized anesthesia protocol for each patient helps with each patient's underlying condition [and] takes into account anything that makes that patient unique that they might have medically going on. Behaviorally, you make it safer and an overall better anesthesia for that patient rather than just the same thing over and over case dependent. It becomes more individual for that patient. And more often than not, you see a better outcome, both from a patient perspective and from a practice perspective.
