Kansas State University's veterinary college maintained accreditation from the American Veterinary Medical Association's (AVMA) Council on Education.
Manhattan, Kan. — Kansas State University's College of Veterinary Medicine has maintained its accreditation from the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA).
Accreditation occurs every seven years, with a five-year self-assessment report from the college as well as a site visit and a vote by the AVMA's Council on Education.
"It was an honor to show off our college as we went through the process," says Ralph Richardson, dean of the veterinary college.
The AVMA judges veterinary schools on 11 standards, including curriculum, library and information resources available, research, staff organization, and finances to support educational programs and the mission of the college.
This year, Richardson says comments from the AVMA were very positive about the school's faculty, library and library staff as well as an increase in research and services income.
