11th edition will expand audience reach, plus features new invaluable insights

Merck and Co, Inc has published a Spanish version of the 11th edition of The Merck Veterinary Manual.

“For more than 65 years, The Merck Veterinary Manual has remained true to its original objective: to provide concise and authoritative information about diseases and management of food-producing, companion, laboratory, and exotic animals,” said editor-in-chief Alexandra L. Winter, BSc, BVSc, DACVS, in a company release.1 “Publishing the 11th edition in Spanish allows us to expand our audience.”

Approximately 400 veterinary experts spanning from over 20 countries with backgrounds in academia, government, research organizations, and specialty practices were involved in the editorial process.

Using a 2-column format, the book provides easy-to-read text and tables and features hundreds of full-color images of clinical photos, drawings, radiographs, endoscopic images, and photomicrographs.1 Throughout, topics are cross-referenced so the reader can easily pinpoint related discussions.

The updates to the 11th edition include:

  • A section specifically for public health, (ig, public health functions and agencies, epidemiologic principles, disease outbreak investigations, food safety, and an table of zoonoses).
  • More information on heart disease, diagnostic imaging, emergency medicine, wound management, and pharmacology, including drug resistance.
  • More information on fish and aquaculture, and additional chapters on backyard poultry, toxicologic workplace hazards, and smoke inhalation.

The Merck Veterinary Manual website is free and requires no registration.
