Complicated feelings about situations can make for more creativity in the workplace, according to a new study published in the October issue of the Academy of Management Journal. Researchers found that when people feel mixed emotions, they see the situation as unfamiliar territory and look for more creative solutions. This and earlier studies found that women in supervisory positions are more likely to be emotionally ambivalent, which could mean women in high-status positions will be more creative managers.
