From financial limitations to appointment unavailability, there are certain factors that may inhibit a client from accessing a specialist for their pet with heart disease. Though this can pose a challenge, in this dvm360® interview, Fetch Charlotte faculty member Natalie Marks, DVM, CVJ, describes steps a general practitioner can take to help provide the patient the best care.

Natalie Marks, DVM, CVJ: However, there are lots of things that we can do. And again, that client communication piece is the key as well as empowering our clients to use technology to be monitoring respiratory rates at home and other factors to give us as much information about how that pets doing while they're at home and us giving the client as much information as we can while the pet is in [the] hospital.
