Melody Martinez, CVT: If I am really thinking about the importance of these... observed time periods I think it is important because it brings awareness to a specific demographic or specific identity...there is a symbolic important meaning behind these months and it allows us to remember that our country [and] our society is not made up of just one kind of person.
