SHAWNEE, KAN. - 11/18/05 - PBS's "Nature" series will feature on Sunday the storied rescue efforts of animals stranded in Katrina's wake.

Bayer Animal Health is a co-sponsor of the one-hour special "Katrina's Animal Rescue". The company reportedly has donated $4 million in cash and products to the relief efforts for victims and their pets.

Joerg Ohle, Bayer Animal Health president and general manager, hopes the "Nature" special makes more people aware of the need for better ways of protecting pets during disasters.

"Bayer Animal Health feels a responsibility to provide assistance to the heroes who help rescue pets, especially those in disastrous circumstances," Ohle says. "It is imperative to anticipate and fulfill the needs that will help keep pets healthy and safe. We are committed to connecting owners and their pets and will continue to help veterinarians and rescue workers effectively care for and reunite animals with their owners."

"Katrina's Animal Rescue" premiers Nov. 20 at 8 p.m. EST on PBS.
