Gov. Mike Easley appointed Katie Owen Morgan to the North Carolina Veterinary Board Aug. 8. Morgan is a retired educator who has served on the East Carolina University Board of Trustees and on the state and national boards of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. She holds a master's degree in English and a bachelor's degree in English and French from East Carolina University.
Each of the veterinary board's eight members serves a five-year term. Five are appointed by the governor, and the remaining three by the Senate president pro tempore, the speaker of the House and the agricultural commissioner.
