NCSU's Arden will lead AAVMC as president

Washington -- The Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges has a new president -- Dr. Warick Arden, dean of North Carolina State University's College of Veterinary Medicine.

-- The Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges (AAVMC) has a new president - Dr. Warick Arden, dean of North Carolina State University's College of Veterinary Medicine.

Arden assumed the post on July 13 during the association’s annual meeting.Delegates to the AAVMC Assembly also elected Dr. Willie M. Reed, dean of Purdue University’s School of Veterinary Medicine, as AAVMC’s president-elect.

"This is a challenging time for academic veterinary medicine, and the AAVMC has an ambitious and active agenda," Arden says in a prepared statement.

The association's strategic mission includes legislative initiatives, recruiting minorities to the profession, solve workforce shortages and contribute to discussions about education reforms with the North American Veterinary Medical Education Consortium.
