Trenton, N.J. — Volunteer services now can count for up to 10 percent of continuing education requirements for New Jersey veterinarians, according to a new law.
Assembly Bill 928/Senate Bill 515 gives the New Jersey Board of Medical Examiners and the New Jersey Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners discretion to determine the necessary amount of continuing education required for their fields and to allow volunteer services to count toward a portion of that requirement.
The bill was passed in the Assembly Nov. 22 and by the Senate Sept. 30. Final approval by the governor still is required for the bill to take effect.
