Matthew Krecic, DVM, MS, MBA, DACVIM (SAIM), senior technical services manager for Zoetis, says we're starting to see molecular diagnostics being used more in the veterinary practice.

He says things like polymerase chain reaction (PCR) are becoming miniaturized in a way to have them on-site at a practice. Having the diagnostic equipment on site would make diagnosis and treatment faster since veterinarians would not have to send their samples to a reference lab.

Dr. Krecic also talks about the several things on the horizon for veterinarians, such as biomarkers and liquid biopsy.
