$100,000 was split between shelters across the United States for efforts to help dogs in need

PEDIGREE Foundation and PEDIGREE's Essential Support Dogs program announced they awarded $100,000 in grants to shelters and organizations across the United States. The organizations were chosen based on their efforts to keep people and pets together during hard times.

"We know how much people have turned to their pets for unconditional love and support over the past few years and through the PEDIGREE brand's Essential Support Dogs program and its donation to support these grants, shelters across the country can continue to keep people and pets together through challenging times," said Kimberly Wise, President of PEDIGREE Foundation, in an organizational release.1

"We're inspired by the work shelters are doing to drive change in their communities and help deserving dogs find loving homes. Now more than ever, shelters need our support as they are at capacity and are unable to take more dogs under their care. We encourage people to adopt, foster, volunteer, or donate to your local shelter to help continue to drive this change and end pet homelessness."

The shelters and organizations awarded the grants all have programs that can provide immediate assistance to pet owners with services such as temporary boarding, covering food costs, or pet friend housing deposits. Along with these qualifications, organizations focusing on dogs whose families needed medical expense relief were also considered.

The grant recipients are:1

  • APA! AMPA! In Austin, Texas
  • Arizona Humane Society in Phoenix, Arizona
  • Berkeley Humane in Berkeley, California
  • Dallas Pets Alive! in Dallas, Texas
  • Humane Indiana in Highland, Indiana
  • Humane Rescue Alliance in Washington, D.C.
  • Jennifer Sterling Brown Animal Rescue in Lexington, Mississippi
  • Rockbridge Animal Alliance in Lexington, Virginia
  • Seattle Humane in Bellevue, Washington
  • The Rescue Train in North Hollywood, California

The PEDIGREE brand donated $5 per qualifying social post up to $100,000 as part of the program to assist dogs in need through the Essential Support Dogs Safety Net grants. Although pet parents shared their stories, the posts did not reach $100,000, but PEDIGREE donated the full amount.
