PHILADELPHIA - 5/26/05 - The University of Pennsylvania (Penn) has created the Veterinary Business Management Association (VBMA) in an effort to unite veterinary business clubs across the United States.
VBMA is a national student-managed organization with a mission to advance the veterinary profession though increased business knowledge.
"The leaders and members of VBMA believe that learning about subjects outside the medical realm will enable veterinarians to provide better care to animals, have higher performing practices, maintain a firm grip on their personal finances and have a stronger impact in their communities," says Meghan Stalker, UP student and VBMA president. "The VBMA believes that teaching veterinary students about business management is integral to a well-rounded education and the advancement of the veterinary profession as a whole."
National chapters will receive support and a sense of community, business education and resources as well as increased access to corporate support, VBMA leaders say.
The program is sponsored by Hill's Pet Nutrition, Inc.
