On June 7, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) reported that 315 sea turtles had been verified within the designated spill area. Two-hundred and sixty three of those animals died, and 41 turtles are in rehabilitation. Only three turtles have been released from captivity. This sea turtle was examined at the Louisiana Marine Mammal and Sea Turtle Rescue Center in New Orleans.
