Purina ONE recalls single run of Salmonella-contaminated dog food

Recall affects 3.5-lb bags of White Meat Chicken and Whole Barley Recipe.

A single production run of Purina ONE beyOnd Our White Meat Chicken and Whole Barley Recipe adult dry dog food was voluntarily recalled after a bag of product was found contaminated with Salmonella. The St. Louis-based Nestlé Purina PetCare Co. says the recall affects a limited number of 3.5-pound bags with “best by” date of Oct. 2014 and production code 31071083.

At this time, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration says, no Salmonella-related illness has been reported as a result of the recalled product. Consumers who purchased food affected by the recall should discontinue use and discard it. The “best by” date and production code can be found on the back or bottom of the bag.
