Purina Pro Plan launches fitness challenge with Venus Williams

To help pets and their owners be more active, Purina Pro Plan (Pro Plan) is launching the “Monday like a Pro” Challenge. Beginning March 13, 2023, through May 21, 2023, Team Pro Plan – a group of content creators and award-winning athletes like Shaun White, Nastia Liukin, and Drew Brees – and Venus Williams will issue weekly challenges. Pet parents nationwide will then be invited to log active minutes with their dogs.

"My dog Harry is such a huge part of my life. My dream is for him to have the longest life possible. So, I make sure he gets the nutrition he needs to keep him happy, healthy, and by my side," said Williams, in an organizational release.¹ "I'm excited to partner with Pro Plan because not only does the nutrition of Pro Plan Sport provide high-performance fuel for active dogs like Harry, but we're also giving back to dogs in need through the 'Monday Like a Pro' Challenge."

Along with promoting a more active lifestyle for pets and owners, Monday like a Pro challenge also offers the chance for them to give back. According to the release,¹ for every week that participants collectively log 1 million minutes, Pro Plan will donate $15,000, up to 150,000, to Athletes for Animals. Co-founded by David Backes, this nonprofit focuses on protecting homeless pets and has connected athletes with a shared passion for animals, encourages pet adoption, raises funds, and distributes grants to best support animal welfare, and educate the public on responsible pet ownership.

"Fueling my body with optimal nutrition is one of the most important things that I focus on, not just before my matches, but also on a daily basis," concluded Williams,¹ "That's something I want for my dog Harry as well. When I go to practice, he goes to practice. If I go to the gym, Harry goes to the gym. With Pro Plan Sport, I know he's getting the nutrition he needs so he can stick by me on all our adventures."
