Questions to Ask Before Selecting a Contractor

Jeff Adney, BA, president of PermaTek Coatings, advises veterinarians what to do before selecting a contractor. First and foremost, Adney says, ask the contractor for references.

Then, take the time to go and visit their facility to see the work they've done. Make sure to ask them if they have ever worked on animal care facilities before. If they haven't done animal care work, Adney cautions against using that contractor. When visiting their facility, ask them what issues they have run into, and how they addressed those issues. Also, run a background check to see where they're sitting financially.
