Raw Basics, LLC, a raw pet food manufacturer based in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, has recalled a single lot of its 5-lb Tucker’s Pork-Bison-Formula due to potential Salmonella contamination.
During testing, the Nebraska Department of Agriculture identified a positive Salmonella finding, but was able to isolate the affected products to 1 lot comprised of 108 boxes. The recalled boxes were distributed to pet specialty retail stores in Minnesota, Georgia, Kansas, and Pennsylvania.
Recalled products have the following attributes:
Pet owners who have handled the affected products are considered to be at risk for Salmonella infection and should seek medical help if they develop symptoms, such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, watery or bloody diarrhea, fever, or headache. Similarly, veterinary care should be sought for pets that show any of these signs. All contaminated materials should be washed thoroughly.
No pet or human illnesses have been reported to date due to the recalled pet food. Consumers are urged to return the recalled product to their place of purchase for a full refund. For further questions, consumers can contact Raw Basics at 800-219-3650.
