During an interview with dvm360®, Tasha McNerney, CVT, CVPP, VTS (Anesthesia and Analgesia), highlighted the importance of being trained in using a laryngoscope to ensure patient safety.

In an interview with dvm360®, Tasha McNerney, CVT, CVPP, VTS (Anesthesia and Analgesia), explained that though laryngscopes simplify endotracheal intubation, it's critical veterinary professionals are trained in using them for succesful patient outcomes.

Tasha McNerney, CVT, CVPP, VTS (Anesthesia and Analgesia): When you get started, make sure you have a senior [technician] or a senior doctor anesthesiologist who is familiar with the equipment and can walk you through [using a laryngoscope]. This is not a complicated piece of equipment, and again, not meant to add a lot of time or steps or stress to your day. And in fact, once you get into the habit of using it, it really will become just like placing a catheter, just like utilizing the ultrasound probe.
