Honolulu - 7/17/06- More than 9,500 attendees of the American Veterinary Medical Association's annual convention have convened on Honolulu, marking this year's show the group's largest in attendance.

That's according to Jim Flanigan, communications official with AVMA, who reports the numbers, while preliminary, could surpass 10,000 in show registrants. The breakdown of veterinarians versus technicians, staff and family were not released at presstime.

"I'm holding my breath," Flanigan adds.

The AVMA 2003 Denver convention previously ranked the group's largest in attendance at 9,460.
