Richmond, Va.-Veterinarian-turned-politician stays in office
Richmond, Va. — Veterinarian-turned-politician Jim Shuler (D-Va.) won re-election Nov. 3 against a college student from his former alma mater.
Shuler's challenger, Independent candidate Paul Cornett, is a student at Virginia Polytechnic Institute in Blacksburg, Va., where Shuler received a bachelor's degree in 1966 before entering veterinary school at the University of Georgia.
Shuler has served since 1994 in Virginia's House of Delegates as the representative of the 12th district, which includes Blacksburg, Va.
