The smallest change in a household can mean a huge change for an animal, leading to stress and potentially illness. Pet owners need to be aware of this fact, and be aware of the environment that their pet is in at all times. In a shelter environment, the way animals are housed is the most important factor of stress. Animals need their own space, cats need multiple levels if possible, and cats may need to be co-housed with other cats.
