The 1 Life Connected Commitment

Amanda Landis-Hanna, DVM, senior manager of veterinary outreach for PetSmart Charities, talks about the 1 Life Connected organization, created by Kimberly Pope-Robinson, DVM, CCFP.

With this organization, Dr. Pope-Robinson provides consulting services, but has recognized that veterinarians, veterinary technicians and veterinary support staff members continue to have difficulties when it comes to wellbeing. To help combat this issue, she created the 1 Life Connected Commitment — a statement that veterinary professionals can take.

Those who take the statement pledge to be connected when happy and sad, and pledge to sit with their discomfort as well as their joy. By being able to be present and mindful of our emotions, Dr. Landis-Hanna says we may be able to utilize that mindfulness toward better wellbeing for all veterinary professionals.
