Jackie Dueñas, DVM: I [was] lucky to grow up with people who looked like me in veterinary medicine. So for me, [I was able] to think that I could become a veterinarian because my role models were all Latin and Hispanic veterinarians. But even if, for example, on Instagram and TikTok...even if 1 person sees me and says like, "Hey, she looks like me" or you know, maybe I don't look like them, but for whatever reason, they connect to me and say "Okay, I can be a veterinarian. I can do what she does." Then that's what makes me happy.
