Quincy Hawley, DVM: I was never really present with the animal that was in front of me, I was always thinking about the next one or thinking about something that happened, you know, the day before, or thinking about something that happened at home. And so you miss all these little magical moments of perfection, when you lack the ability to be mindful and really live in that present moment. And what I've noticed is that once I started to do that, it just makes the job that much more enjoyable because you actually remember the little French bulldog that came in that was so cute.
