Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO)

Event

Date: May 11 - May 12, 2018

Description:

This two day Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy course will cover the background, rationale, planning, surgical technique, post-op care, complications, and clinical experience. Each participant will perform a TPLO during dry and wet labs. The KYON TPLO* plate applies the technological features and biological benefits of the Advanced Locking Plate System (ALPS) to the Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy technique. The primary objective of the ALPS system is to reduce the risk of infection. Infection is best prevented by minimizing damage to the vascular supply and maximizing the compatibility of implant design, material and production. The ALPS-type minimal contact design reduces damage to the periosteum, allows compression, locking in all holes and use of mono-cortical distal locking screws. The locking screws feature a novel thread design and locking mechanism. The plate is pre-contoured to best match the tibial plateau leveling osteotomy construct. Final adjustments can be made by bending the plate. The plates and screws are manufactured from titanium alloys for supreme biocompatibility and strength.COURSE CONTENT: Review of rationale / theory Instruction in lecture / video / bone model formats Technical / practical instruction Bone model exercises Wetlab Ample discussion Presentations on clinical experience, advanced techniques, avoiding/managing complications, new/ongoing research
