In a recent interview with dvm360®, Dr Philippa Pavia offered up advice to recent veterinary school graduates on performing orthopedic exams.
At the recent 2021 New York Vet show in New York, New York, Philippa Pavia, VMD, DACVS-SA, shared with dvm360® that performing an orthopedic exam can be challenging, especially to those new to it. She then offered her insight on how recent veterinary school graduates can refine and master their skills in this area.

Philippa Pavia, VMD, DACVS-SA: The orthopedic exam is really hard. [Veterinarians] don't learn it particularly well in the limited amount of time we have in veterinary school. We have to learn so much in 4 years that none of us are superb at [the] orthopedic exam coming out of school. Don't feel bad about it—none of us are. It's just practice...it's asking someone who's really good at it to help you with it and just keep on doing it.
