Jan Bellows, DVM, DAVDC, ABVP, board-certified dentist at All Pets Dental in Westin, Florida shares his top tip for keeping clients engaged in their pet’s preventive dental care.

“My best tip for getting engaged in preventive care is to recheck your patient frequently. In our practice, I recheck all of my dental clients—I give the opportunity to the client at least—to come in monthly so I could see how they're doing with their home care. Now, the human dentist doesn't check them monthly, and they certainly don't do it for free, we do it for free. And the clients that take us up on that love the effect, because it ties them to the practice, and also, shows the veterinarian that they're really doing a lot to help their pet's teeth. And you know, we pat them on the back, tell what a great job they're doing, the breath smells good, and best news is the pet keeps their teeth.”
