Tuskegee graduate wins 'Today' on-air wedding

Washington-A Tuskegee University College of Veterinary Medicine (TU) graduate and his bride-to-be will wed next month in New York's Rockefeller Plaza, sharing their special day with family, friends and millions of NBC viewers.

Washington-A Tuskegee University College of Veterinary Medicine(TU) graduate and his bride-to-be will wed next month in New York's RockefellerPlaza, sharing their special day with family, friends and millions of NBCviewers.

Dr. Marcus Landry, 26, and Cynithia Slay, 24, both of Washington, arethe subject of NBC's third annual "Today Throws a Wedding," featuredWednesday mornings for 12 summer weeks.

The show, a successful series drawing big ratings, drives viewers tothe network's Web site where they cast votes on nearly every aspect of thecouple's wedding, from the bride's dress and rings to the honeymoon site.NBC estimates the gala's total cost at around $60,000.

Landry, on track to soon take his national board exams, says he won'tbe looking for work in the federal, large animal business until after thewedding. In the meantime, the couple must fly every Tuesday morning to theNBC studio, returning to Washington each Wednesday night.

"We also do a local radio station every Thursday and a lot of meet-and-greetstuff," he says. "It keeps us pretty busy.

"Usually I don't have good luck," he adds. "I struggledall the way through vet school and worked hard for every single grade Igot.

"Graduation felt like I got out of prison. Going through all thattakes a lot out of you. It feels really good to be able to do this."
