"Unconventional" What's that really mean?

For starters, it's a bit unusual that the content team for an award-winning web site would be the same team that plans a live event. But it doesn't end there!

You may or may not realize, but the team that develops the content you find on dvm360 also plans the sessions at the three CVC conferences. And as we planned the 2015 program, we challenged ourselves to think bigger, be innovative, and try new things.

Just a few weeks ago, at CVC in Washington, DC, we got to see the vision we've been talking about for more than a year play out. And most importantly, we got our first real feedback from real veterinarians and team members about the experience. Good news: It was GREAT!

Dr. David Bruyette led several dynamic CVC sessions on the innovative track "In This Case: Real Discussions, Real Results" which includes a consultation from another expert though online collaboration and discussion and questions from attendees.

Here's the background.

We know from adult education research that even the smartest, most motivated adults on the planet (that would be you) can only pay attention for 15 minutes at a time. So we challenged ourselves and our (fantastic) speakers to find ways to push the reset button for attendees. And with that critical idea at the base of all our thinking and planning, the team came up with 5 innovative tracks that use all kinds of strategies to give you the most engaging, most interesting sessions ever.

Here's a sample of the comments we got about our "unconventional" efforts

> "I loved the innovative sessions"

> "Well done!"

> "Interesting concept - good coordination"

> "I loved the interactive keypads"

> "Excellent presentation - a very interactive session"

So, you ask, what happened in those sessions that was so super? Well, for example, in the Learn Then Earn sessions, we paired Dr. Karen Felsted, management guru extraordinaire and regular dvm360.com contributor, with several super smart clinical presenters, to help attendees at the conference see how applying the next level of clinical thinking could affect their production and/or their practice. And in the dvm360 Full Circle seminars, we teamed up three speakers who each took an angle on the topic: clinical, management, and practice team, so you got a well-rounded view of how to implement things like low-stress patient handling and treating dentistry like a team sport.

Of course, the good feedback has us fired up. And we're heading with enthusiasm toward our next opportunity for you to join the fun-CVC Kansas City. Check out the innovative sessions we've got planned, if I've got you intrigued.
