Knoxville, Tenn. - 8/10/05 - A new show "Barkiture," on the DIY network, airs tonight at 9 p.m. and features Dr. Karen Tobias, a professor of small animal surgery at the University of Tennessee.
Tobias co-hosts the show with Kenny Alfonso, highlighting the integration of a new dog into a home.
Tobias gives advice on how to care for the new dog while Alfonso designs a custom-built doghouse.
Each episode of the half-hour long show features a family receiving a new dog.
Many of the dogs on the show were adopted from the Young-Williams Animal Center in Knoxville.
Tobias says adjusting to the filming schedule wasn't easy.
"I'm surprised at how much time and effort it takes to produce 20-minutes of film," Tobias says in a prepared statement. "When working with kids and dogs you never know what's going to happen."
