VIN announced Dr Brennan McKenzie as the second Vin Veritas Award winner
The Veterinary Information Network (VIN) announced Brennan McKenzie, VMD, MS (Physiology and Behavioral Biology), MS (Epidemiology), as the second recipient of the VIN Veritas Award.
Founded in 2021, this award was created after 2 veterinarians, Steve Valeika, DVM, PhD, and J. Scott Weese, DVM, DVSc, DACVIM, FCAHS, provided the VIN community and world with timely and accurate information about the epidemiology of COVID-19.1 The Vin Veritas Award, which comes from the Latin word meaning truth, now honors those who serve truth and science with integrity and courage.
According to the release,1 Mckenzie is a small animal practitioner, instructor in evidence-based medicine, and author of the Skeptvet blog. He has been long admired by veterinary professionals for his dedication to promoting evidence-based veterinary medicine.
To receive this award, veterinary colleagues must nominate someone they believe demonstrates courage and integrity in the pursuit of the service of science and truth. Once nominations close, a committee chooses the honoree(s) each year. For future Vin Veritas awards, a call for nominations will be distributed in the fall of each year.
