Veterinary scholarships offered to New Jersey residents

The American Veterinary Medical Foundation, in partnership with the Harold Wetterberg Foundation, is once again awarding scholarships to current or former New Jersey residents pursuing a career in veterinary medicine.

Applicants must be second- or third-year veterinary students or students enrolled in postgraduate education in veterinary medicine, have graduated from a New Jersey high school, and have had a 3.0 GPA or higher at their veterinary school and undergraduate school. Preference is given to students pursuing dual degrees and those who have graduated from or attended a university in New Jersey.¹

According to the American Veterinary Medical Foundation website, official eligibility requirements include:²

• A current or former resident of New Jersey who is enrolled in the second or third year of the professional DVM curriculum during the 2022-2023 academic year
• Graduation from a New Jersey high school
• 3.0 GPA or higher at veterinary school and undergraduate school
• Must be a US Citizen

*NOTE: Graduation or attendance at a New Jersey college is preferred, but not required.

Award amounts range from $5,000-$15,000 for the students selected; previous recipients are eligible to apply. The application period opens January 1, 2023 and the deadline for this scholarship program is March 15, 2023.¹
