This award honors a management professional that creates a better workplace for staff members
The Veterinary Hospital Managers Association (VHMA) announced it’s now accepting nominations for the 2023 Practice Manager of the Year. This yearly award honors a management professional that used their knowledge, experience, and expertise to transform clinics and improve business operations.
"The Practice Manager of the Year is someone who has absorbed knowledge from educational opportunities, other managers and colleagues, and from in-the-field experiences, good and bad, and then used all that they know in an innovative way to transform a practice, clinic, or hospital for the better," said Christine Shupe, CAE, VHMA executive director, in an organizational release.1 "This person is dedicated to the veterinary management profession."
Practice managers can be nominated by practice owners, colleagues, or they can nominate themselves. According to the release, applications require an essay of up to 750 words explaining why the nominee should be selected for the award, and how they transformed their clinic.1 How the management professional transformed the clinic can be anything from finance, practice culture, organization, or any other aspect of management a practice that created a better workplace for staff, improved care for patients, and better return for ownership.
The 2023 winner will receive complimentary registration to the VHMA 2023 Annual Meeting and Conference on September 21-23, 2023, in Glendale, Arizona, plus $1,250 for travel, lodging, and meals.
The deadline for submissions is Tuesday, March 15, 2023, and anyone interested in self nominating or nominating a colleague can do so on the VHMA website.
