WVC Announces New Dates for Annual Veterinary Conference

Western Veterinary Conference (WVC) has offered high-quality continuing education (CE) to veterinary professionals for 90 years at its annual conference in Las Vegas, Nevada. Traditionally, the conference has always been held during the first week of March, but in 2019, the well-known event will be moved to February.

The date change is in reasponse to survey feedback from conference attendees.

To provide the best experience, the 2019 WVC Annual Conference will be held February 17-20, and during the same President’s Day week each year thereafter—with one exception in 2021 due to a scheduling conflict with another show.

“Moving the WVC Annual Conference back to February means more reasonable hotel room rates, increased availability, and less competition with other major conferences in the US No. 1-ranked trade show destination,” WVC CEO David Little said.

This move also shortens the conference by 1 day, which the organization decided to do after receiving feedback regarding the need for attendees to head back to their jobs.

“We understand and are sensitive to the pressures on veterinary professionals, time being one of the most important and the one there never seems to be enough of,” WVC Chief Veterinary Medical Officer Tony Pease, DVM, said. “To provide maximum value to our participants, it means allowing them to get all of the CE they can; covering all of the topics important to them; all the while being considerate of their need to get back to their day job.”

Even with this date and duration change, WVC said attendees will still have a full menu of opportunities to obtain their required annual CE hours at the conference.

“WVC’s goal is to always respond to the needs of the profession and our participants,” Little said. “Additionally, we constantly strive to provide the best value and experience possible for those attending our events.”
