The new center was created to offer veterinarians advanced clinical education, according to conference officials.

The center includes surgical suites, laboratories, exam rooms, a dental operatory, auditorium, radiography unit and a 12,000-square-foot, large-animal facility for equine and food-animal continuing education.

In addition to the grand opening, the conference hosted 64 labs during its annual convention Feb. 15-19.

U.S. Sens. John Ensign, a Nevada veterinarian, and Harry Reid were in attendance for Oquendo's dedication. Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman and U.S. Rep. Alice C. TItus were special guests at the event, WVC reports.
