Felix Duerr earned his veterinary degree at the Veterinary School in Hannover in Northern Germany. After two internships in Canada at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, he completed his surgical residency/masters program at Colorado State University. Dr. Duerr is certified by both the American College of Veterinary Surgeons and the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation. He is also certified with the Canine Rehabilitation Institute. Dr. Duerr worked in private practice for four years before joining CSU in 2011 to help build up CSUs Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation program. Dr. Duerrs research focus is clinical studies aimed at improving animal health and quality of life related to orthopedic problems. His clinical interests include sports medicine and rehabilitation, cranial cruciate ligament injury, hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, minimally invasive surgery (arthroscopy), and arthritis. His current research projects include the development of novel gait analysis techniques, evaluation of newtreatment options for arthritis (surgical and nonsurgical), and investigation of techniques to enhance bone healing.
