Canadian equine owners must start recording horse health data
February 4th 2010Nepean, Ontario, Canada -- The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has advised that, as of Jan. 31, equine owners who plan to sell their horses either directly or indirectly to Canadian meat processors should record all vaccines and medications given to the horses as well as any illnesses.
Applications being accepted for Unwanted Horse Veterinary Relief Campaign
January 19th 2010Roseland, N.J. -- After a successful inaugural year in 2009 in which more than 2,500 horses received free vaccines, the Unwanted Horse Veterinary Relief Campaign (UHVRC) is accepting applications again this year, with a deadline of Feb. 1 for spring vaccinations and Aug. 1 for fall vaccinations.
One barn cleared, three others remain quarantined in EHV-1 outbreak
December 8th 2009Miami Gardens, Fla. -- Calder Race Course officials have lifted the quarantine on one barn that began Dec. 3, but are keeping three other barns closed because of a horse that tested positive for equine herpes virus (EHV-1).
